Polymedia team installed a set of multimedia systems disguised as architectural and décor elements at the Fireplace Hall of the Center for Media Arts in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

The center is a division of the Academy of Talents, an educational institution that offers extracurricular classes for children and youth, developing their skills in arts and technology.

The project includes a variety of information displays that look like mirrors, fires and room walls making the space technologically advanced and traditional at the same time.
Installation highlights include:

  • Vertical LED screens installed in the niches of a single wall. The screens display digital versions of paintings and historical photos obtained through the collaboration of the academy with famous museums in Saint Petersburg;
  • Vertical 55” displays disguised as mirrors;
  • Two more displays integrated into the depth of decorative fireplaces that imitate an open fire, creating a homely ambiance while avoiding fire risk.

The set of multimedia systems, including sound, switching and display systems can be managed via control panel installed on a wall in the Fireplace Hall. The administrator can easily switch the equipment on and off, plug in the USB and load the information. If required, the system can also be controlled remotely.

“The result brings joy to the students of our center, as well as to the teachers, guests and social partners. Many workshops, lectures have been held at the Centre for Media Arts. From the moment it opened its doors in September 2019, it became the location for international, national and city-level events and an exhibition space. The technical equipment helped to hold a hackathon for the visual arts studio and partner schools. During immersive educational holiday events – a new format for interaction with high school students – the teachers of the center managed to combine six educational streams: digital art, DJing, photo art, video recording and editing, graphic design and 3D modelling,” said the director of the Аcademy of Talents, Ekaterina Aleksandrovna Polukarova.
