Command and Control Centers

Command and Control Centers
One of the most pressing tasks faced by government authorities and commercial organizations is to increase the efficiency of management, support decision-making and facilitate real-time communications. A modern approach that helps address this challenge is the implementation of situation centers.

Situation center is an effective management tool

Situation centers are designed for the leaders of federal, regional and municipal government, ministries and departments, as well as large corporations.

An expertly designed situation center provides information and analytical support for processes in an organization and helps executives make effective managerial decisions, form development strategies, prevent or eliminate crisis and emergency situations.

The structure and composition of each situation center are determined by the specifics of the tasks it addresses. As a rule, a situation center is a sophisticated multi-functional system that includes many subparts.

Polymedia team has an extensive hands-on experience in designing hardware and software data visualization systems.
The company is an established expert in the field of development and implementation of situation centers for any type of organization and task.

High engineering potential helps Polymedia to carry out technically complex and large-scale situation center projects:
  • situation centers for government authorities;
  • decision-making support centers;
  • crisis management centers;
  • central command units.

Polymedia is one of the pioneers of the situation center concept. Applying scientific principles and engineering expertise, company specialists create an all-in-o ne innovative and easy-to-use tool for leaders that supports effective communications and decision-making.
Polywall command and control platform connects all the components essential for creating an efficient and intuitive command and control environment. It enables convenient management of information, can capture visual data from a wide variety of sources and produces high-quality visualization.

The traditional control room design has undergone revolutionary changes. Previously widespread mnemonic control panels have been replaced with modern largescreen video displays for collective use, which have become a central element of the digital monitoring system. In control rooms, such screens are built of separate same-type display modules of various visualization technologies. These modular display systems are called video walls.

Elements of building video walls

Projection modules
Video cubes is a time-tested classic solution, 24/7 operation, long service life of 50-60 thousand hours, small gap of no more than 1 mm between the screens, a relatively high pixel density of about 36 dpi. Relatively low brightness leads to specialrequirements to controlroom lighting. Some video cube models have certain viewing angle restrictions.
Narrow bezel LCD displays
Relatively new type of display element for building video walls. Narrow bezel LCDs have put competitive pressure on projection modules. The best models offer just slightly over 1 mm inter-screen gap and relatively high pixel density of about 40 dpi. The brightness capacity softens requirements to the control room lighting. LCD video walls provide large viewing angles in both planes. At the same time, only specific models of narrow bezel LCD displays are capable of working in a 24/7 mode. Typical service life is 40-60 thousand hours.
LED modules
New type of display element for video walls, which has great prospects in the control room market. They have a huge margin of brightness and an almost imperceptible gap between adjacent modules. The service life of 100 thousand hours at 24/7 mode of operation. When it comes to pixel density, the LED video walls so far are in disadvantage compared to other types of displays, featuring pixel density of about 25 dpi. However, the best models of LED displays are coming close to projection units.
Polymedia offers a comprehensive situation center solution, including an analytics system based on the Visiology platform.
